Adding massage therapy to your chiropractic care program can benefit you in a variety of ways. Recovery is normally faster and more complete when you address multiple components of your pain. Chiropractic treatment is often received by the body more easily, with less discomfort, when it has been relaxed with massage. You may be less anxious and more ready to receive chiropractic adjustment after a relaxing massage. The benefit of your adjustment will frequently last longer when muscle tension is released, muscle tension that might otherwise pull your joints out of alignment quickly.

Julia

What made you want to become a massage therapist?

Julia: My first encounter with massage was at a retreat for stroke survivors that I was attending with my family. A family member and I wanted to try massage and we loved it! While my family member was receiving her massage the therapist, who is now my mentor, asked if I wanted to help. I became hooked on receiving and especially on giving massages!!

What are your wellness goals?

Julia: Last year I walked The Breast Cancer 3-Day (a walk that benefits Susan G. Komen for the cure) and decided that walking would be a lifetime exercise program for me. I eat healthy- or at least try to! :) I also drink plenty of water to keep myself hydrated. Don’t forget your water!!!

Jim

What made you want to become a massage therapist?

Jim: I have always had the desire to help people in whatever way possible and was always sympathetic to people living in pain. For years many of my friends repeatedly suggested that I should become a massage therapist, since I was so good with my hands. Massage was my natural calling.

Where did you receive your education?

Jim: In 2005 I entered Irene's Myomassology Institute to become a massage therapist. I graduated in the top of my class. After graduation I apprenticed for a year. I have been at Kingswood Chiropractic for over a year and a half and have enjoyed working with Dr. McAleer and the staff. I feel honored to be able to work with and help his wonderful patients. Massage therapy is a very fulfilling career and I am very glad to have been given the opportunity to help people achieve and enjoy a better quality of life.
