| Pregnancy
Chiropractic care can be very helpful during a pregnancy.
While it helps to relieve the discomfort many mothers-to-be experience, chiropractic care can also help to normalize the function of the nervous system which is an extremely important component to optimum overall health.
During delivery the benefits of chiropractic care may also be apparent. Many chiropractic patients have reported that the birthing process was faster and more comfortable than their deliveries prior to receiving chiropractic care!
Your doctor will take special precautions with you during your pregnancy and will gladly answer any questions or concerns that you may have. | The Traumatic Birth Syndrome (TBS)
TBS is a condition in which the spine is injured during or shortly after the delivery process. TBS may result in damage to the nervous system or may cause interference. Occurrences of this disorder are found when:
- The head, neck or any other part of the spine and pelvis of the infant have been pulled and twisted during the birth process
- The birth process is prolonged
- The delivery process is difficult
- Extraction aids are used during delivery (i.e. forceps, vacuum, etc.)
- The child is delivered by Caesarean section
An examination by a Chiropractor is the only way to determine the presence and severity of TBS.
Please contact our office for more information, including preventative measures and treatment options for TBS.
| Children
The birth process may be one of the most traumatic events of our lives.
Even birthing methods that are considered to be "natural" can stress a spine that is still in the developmental stages. An irritation to the nervous system can be the cause of many newborn health complaints such as: colic, unexplained crying, poor appetite, respiratory issues and allergies. Neglecting chiropractic care in the early stages of life, especially following the bumps and falls experienced when crawling and taking those first few steps, may lead to serious spinal deformities later in life and can set the stage for scoliosis, "growing pains," and a weakened immune system response. |
